Happy Christmas to All and to All a Good Night

It’s Christmas Eve and the wind is whipping around Toledo, causing bells to ring and windows to rattle. The ominous sounds outside make the family home feel all the more warm and cozy.

There’s nothing like bad weather on Christmas Eve to make a small gathering of family more delightful. Spanish carols play and a traditional meal is on the stove.

Today Chico and I ate with old friends. Tonight we’ll eat, sing and pray with family, remembering the joy, hope and peace the first Christmas promised to the world.

To each and every one of my few but dedicated readers (I love you, Mom), I’d like to wish a very happy Christmas and leave you with a quote that’s an oldie but a goodie:

“Christmas is not a time nor a season, bit a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.” – Calvin Coolidge
